Daniel Du is no doubt Houston’s #1 Rockets fan! He sports Rockets red every single day without o fail, so if you’re ever looking to go to a game, go with Daniel – he will make sure you have the appropriate fan gear, and he’ll make you love the Rockets too! Daniel lives in good ol’ Houston, but little do people know that he is actually a refined English gentleman with a dope British accent from Manchester, UK. Daniel loves a good pick up game of basketball or football, and you can always find him tearing it up with his beast moves at the gym. When he’s not playing sports or watching the Rockets, Daniel spends his time volunteering at Texas Children’s Hospital, doing lab work, and being the friendly face at Fondren’s circulation desk. He is incredibly passionate about Psychology and Neuroscience, so you should hit him up if you ever want to hear about cool stuff like that! Lastly, Daniel has two really adorable dogs, Scooby Du and Leo, so you know he has a heart of gold. He’s a fun, thoughtful, and hardworking guy, and he will be a superb advisor for all of you lucky people!

Saving the world one code at a time, Fernando Ramirez is one of those people you know will go far. This CAAM major from Waco, TX is one of the most passionate and determined people I know and will be sure to leave a mark on the Jones community before heading back to Duncan after O-Week. His physical strength (greatest exemplified when carrying heavy objects over large distances) and his “amateur” soccer skills will be sure to stun all, but don’t let those muscles fool you, Fernando has one of the biggest hearts around. During his spare time he can be found tutoring underclassman, belting out the lyrics to his favorite Michael Buble song, serving as president of Rice Habitat for Humanity, or chatting about his current girl troubles. Whenever you need a friend, someone to talk to, or someone to do you a favor, Fernando’s your man. Get ready for an awesome, karaoke-filled O-Week, with no awkward silences (Fernando will fill them) and lots of snapchats (a Fernando specialty) and rest assured that O-Week will not be the last you see of the great Fernando Ramirez.

Our tale begins 21 years ago, in the tranquil New Mexican town of Albuquerque, with the birth of one of your incredible advisors: Michael Adam Brule. Although he may not be as chemically crafty as Walter White, he is definitely just as awesome. This Biochemistry major knows quite a bit about proteins and enzymes, but his true love is water. As other biochemistry students are memorizing amino acids, Michael is busy guzzling 24 ounces of water in 4 seconds. He is the mens captain of the wonderful, glorious, sharp-tastic Jones Chug Team. On a more serious note, Michael is a prominent panelist and member of Rice Allies, a program that aims to raise awareness and support for gender equality and the LGBTQ community. Ultimately, this sexy senior is not only an amazing advisor but also one of the most amazing Jonesions you’ll ever meet!

A crawfish (not crayfish) lovin’ Louisiana native, Joan Liu is sure to greet you with the sweetest smile you’ve ever received the first time you meet her. She’ll win you over with her charm and even laugh at her own jokes with you. A Math Econ and Sociology major, she’s ready to take on any national debt crisis or social issue you throw her way. Because of her namesake, Joan from Jones was destined for the greatest college at Rice. You’ll often hear chants of JOAN WINS AGAIN as she passes through campus. She loves all things JIBA and is ready to win at anything, anywhere, anytime. Outside of Jones, she was a New Student Representative for the Student Association and currently serves as Treasurer. But don’t think she’s all business. When she isn’t busy with problem sets, she can be found chatting in the commons, hanging out on her floor lobby, or just sitting around in her Harry Potter Snuggie (even though the sorting hat assigned her to Hufflepuff, she’s not as weird as you’d think). Get ready for a week with Joan cause afterwards, you’ll never be sad again. Just don’t get on her bad side, or you’re sure to hear her signature catchphrase, “why you do dat doe?”
