5”4 inches of perfection, Alma Almanza is basically the living proof of the proverb, “Good things come in small packages.” But don’t be fooled by this advisor’s heart of gold, unrivaled selflessness, and Mexican beauty—within the tiny wrapping of innocence is an extroverted, wild, unstoppable force. Wits, buns of steel (but also every other muscle of steel), and determination, this girl is an inspiration to us all. Working that great derriere of hers off, she became “first-generation” to go to college in her family, and isn’t stopping there. With a Kinesiology major and interests in counseling and research, Alma plans on returning to her roots in Wasco, California to help everyone achieve their dreams as she has. Remember y’all, what goes around comes around. So stay close to this one because she’s bound to be repaid by the universe somehow—and knowing Alma’s good soul, she’ll share.

Where’s that tinkling laugh coming from? That’s none other than Jessica Lee. If you want academic advice from the most beautiful and intelligent gal around, then look no further. She will ensure all of your academic needs are satisfied and do it with a smile that will light up the whole room. While being a Chemistry whiz and Pre-Med graduating in three years is enough for some, she is busy doing so many other things that it’s hard to keep up. Just ask this former-Parliamentarian, Head Peer Academic Advisor and Head Academic Fellow about her love of lab and making magic crystals. Some may say she works too hard, but she will just laugh it off and turn a little red. Jess is the sweetest fireball of excitement you’ll ever meet, and she can’t wait to see you at O-Week!

I1993 was a big year for the world. The Dallas Cowboys won the Superbowl. NAFTA was ratified. Czechoslovakia dissolved into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Oh, and on a cold-for-Texas October evening, Shelby Kuhn made her grand entrance into the world. This Civil Engineer loves bridges (duh), random history facts, football, and new students (of course!). Shelbs doesn’t really know what it’s like to have an empty schedule, between taking more hours than necessary because she just can’t decide, to being the slowest (her words) running back on the Wiess Powderpuff team, and managing the Hoot – only the coolest Student Run Business (sorry, Coffeehouse). In her free time, she enjoys training for marathons and marathoning TV shows; one could say Shelby really enjoys marathons. If you have her as an advisor, you’re a lucky one! Shelby will be there for you whenever you need it and love you more than she loves late-night Mexican food (that’s a lot).

There are some people in this world that make others stop and stare with their athletic exploits. Benjamin Lewis is not one of them. He does, however, know a lot of things. Take, for instance, a recent encounter when someone randomly asked Ben to make an origami bowtie. Most would laugh at such a request, but Ben, with his seemingly bottomless sack of knowledge (figuratively), produced a perfect bowtie in minutes. This type of encounter is not rare with Ben - as one of the most passionate Jonesians you will ever meet, he is always willing to share his knowledge with others in need. His beer bike hairdos have been something of lore, with a freshman year Mohawk that put all others to shame, and a sophomore year purple doo that really “changed the game.” A Physics and Math double major with a minor in friendship, he is always exploring the cosmos, and he would gladly let you do the same with his fancy telescope, while he plays a sweet melody on his guitar. Tony Hawk. He’s friends with Ben. Not really, but he could be with his sweet skateboarding tricks.
