You’ve probably already heard of Romeo “Mayo” Garza. Whether it was in your English class’ Shakespeare unit, or on the back of that bottle of Hellman’s your mom gave you for lunch, Mayo’s name gets around. But this Elec is so much more than a world-famous lover and a beloved egg-based condiment. He’s a musician – always down to jam or soothe you with a verse of your favorite Arctic Monkey’s tune. He’s a soccer player –outdribbling entire soccer teams, and nailing goals from 30 yards out. But most of all he’s a friend –he’ll help you with your crazy problem set when you have no idea what to do, he’ll run the outer loop with you when you should both be sleeping, and he’ll always let you know which servery has the best dinner on any given night. Prepare yourselves for Mayo, guys, ‘cause he’s going to make your Rice experience wonderful.

Your Gen Chem homework is due in 15 minutes and you have no idea how to solve this titration. You just got off the waitlist for a class and need to decide in 24 hours which classes to put on your schedule. You are wandering in Rice Village looking for the froyo place to satisfy your craving and you have no idea where to go. Jones has given you your solution to all these problems and more: Kathleen Francis. Kathleen (aka 2400 - for obvious reasons) is a Bioengineering major with a knack for basically anything she puts her effort toward. If you want to feel like an inferior human by comparison, look no farther. Think you’re better at music? WRONG. She’s a master of the clarinet and is comparable to Mozart on the piano. Think you’re athletic? WRONG. Kathleen has been known to bench press over 1200 pounds while simultaneously running a sub 9 second 100 meter dash that would put Usain Bolt to shame. To put it in as few words as possible: Kathleen Francis is a force of nature and her small 5’4” frame is not something to be trifled with. Also she’s kinda nice.

One of Disney’s best kept secrets is the unpublished fairytale of Princess Mariah. While this affiliate may not always wear a tiara, her sweet smile, charming demeanor, and unhealthy number of dresses make her practically royalty. Hailing from the kingdom of Mineral Wells deep in the heart of Texas, this girl splits her time between directing Camp Kesem, managing The Hoot, coordinating Jones community involvement, and co-founding the Jones Women’s support group. Don’t know what these are? Don’t worry, she’ll schedule some time to explain them to you in her sacred g-cal. Though she claims to be studying Psychology, experts suggest she’s actually majoring in extracurriculars. No one knows quite how she does it, but it’s safe to say she might be in possession of a time turner. However, don’t think for a second that her passion for her activities stops her from being a wonderful friend. No matter what, this girl is there for you, so feel lucky if you’re in her O-Week group. Mariah’s interests include football, acting, quality time with friends, listening to the Beatles, scuba diving, laying by the pool, cleaning, and snuggling with Bucca her stuffed dog. Watch out, because before you know it, this Southern belle will have you charmed; she’s the big sister you’ve always dreamed of, the friend you can always count on, and the Disney princess you’ll look up to.

Once upon a time, in a college far, far away, in the land of Wiess, there lived a whimsical advisor named Andie. Andie had always heard stories about the magical colleges to the North so she decided to go on an adventure! She traveled past the Sid Tower, braved the dark castle of Will Rice, crossed the Quad of Indeterminate Precipitation, and arrived at Jones to be your advisor for O-Week. Your story at Rice begins at Jones College as a part of Andie’s O-Week group! Andie is hardworking like Cinderella, beautiful like Snow White, patient like Sleeping Beauty, can sing like Elsa, and like the Fairy Godmother, is here to help make all of your dreams come true! When she’s not busy working on her film projects, listening to her vintage vinyl records, or dominating at Powderpuff, Andie can be found on her flying carpet (or “longboard” as she calls it), whizzing down the inner loop. Andie also happens to be an IT wizard and an RHA, so if you ever need help with your newfangled contraption or have a boo boo, she’ll be more than willing to help you out. Andie can show you the world - she has traveled across the globe, and even spent the past semester studying film in Prague. “Lights, camera, action!” Open to a picturesque wooded campus; scene change - a tall, beautiful woman. “Pull focus!” She runs forward to greet you, flashing her most winning smile. “WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF JONES, THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH!” Pan out - you’re at Jones College, Rice University, where your fairy tale awaits!
